Sunset in Glasgow
I’ve never really been one to take photos at sundown, but when I saw the sky like this I thought I’d try it. Shot through a window that needed a clean, but it doesn’t really show.

James Ravilious – A World In Photographs
Over a period of 17 years, photographer James Ravilious took 80,000 black and white pictures of rural life in a small area of North Devon.
Interesting, and only 30 minutes. Sadly no longer available on iplayer, but his work is beautiful. It shows even only a few decades ago in England, the sheep followed the shepherd. In order to get round the problem that plagued watercolour painters in England for years, England being green green green, he shot his photos in Black and White allowing him to simply deal with the subjects, lighting, focus and detail.
BBC page with a small account of his life.
Gallery of some of his photos.

Shapely plant
In the Botanic Garden’s Kibble Palace.
the living and the dead, while the dying shed a tear
I was taking photos of these tiny wee heads which covered a massive bush, and my eye was drawn to the tiny drop of water hanging from the bottom.
I don’t post all my photos to the blog so scan the rest of my photostream on Flickr.
I’ve managed about 300 photos today, and about 10 or so that I am pleased with at the end of it. Definitely improving ![]()
Stunning colours on an otherwise plain plant
The only bit of this quite large plant that wasn’t green, but it makes up for it with an absolutely stunning combination of orange with lilac and subtle red.
